This painting was inspired by the wild flowers of summer in Britain. The year I painted this there were an abundance of foxgloves, buttercups, cow parsley and wild garlic to be seen in Scotland. Combined with the colours on the hills: the bright greens of the moss, the grasses and heather, it all made a wonderful display.

When I left Scotland to go on my travels, I asked my good friend John which painting he would like and this is the one he chose.
